Falling Leaves Scarf

Inspired by the colors and patterns of the fall, this simple and cozy scarf is just what you need this season. The intriguing lace design zigzags along the scarf mimicking the motions of falling leaves.

Size: Length when blocked 69” [175cm]; Width when blocked 6.5” [17cm]

Gauge: 37 sts x 29 rows = 4” [10cm] in pattern after wet blocking

Materials

Yarn: KnitPicks Palette (100% peruvian highland wool; 231 yards [211 meters]/50 grams): #24002 Autumn Heather (3 balls)
Needles: US size 3 (3.25 mm) straight or circular needles

Abbreviations

Cdd: Slip 2 sts together k-wise, k1, pass 2 slipped stitches over.
M1l: Pick up yarn between sts from front to back, k through back loop.
M1r: Pick up yarn between sts from back to front, k through front.

Rows 1-4: K.
Next 20 rows make up leaf pattern, alternatively work from chart.

Row 2 and all ws rows: K3, p to last 3 sts, k3.

  • There are 65 stitches in the first row of written instructions. There is an extra K1 that’s not included in the repeat.
    There is an extra stitch at the beginning and end of the chart. (which is not noted anywhere!)

    I think the number of cast on stitches is incorrect. As the pattern is written it for example on row 1 you would only have 64 stitches across. The chart does not go with the written directions.
