Materials

Yarn: Omega Otoño (100% Cotton; 197 yards [180 meters]/100 grams): 975 Turquoise (MC, 3 (4, 4, 5, 5), 909 Mustard (CC, 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) balls)

Needles: US size 6 (4mm) 36” / [100 cm] circular and DPNs; US size 4 (3.5mm) 36” / [100 cm] circular

Notions: Five markers (one of different color), stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle

Abbreviations

Ssk: Slip, slip, knit these 2 stitches together. (1 st dec’d)

Sk2p: Slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slip stitch over the knit 2 together. (2 sts dec’d)

K2tog: Knit 2 stitches together. (1 st dec’d)

K3tog: Knit 3 stitches together. (2 sts dec’d)

Special Stitches

Carrying yarn in the back

Wrap working yarn around resting yarn in the back every two or three rounds, pulling lightly but avoiding a pucker.

Jogless Join

Lift the right leg of the st below, place it on needle and knit it together with the first st of the stripe.

I-cord Bind-Off

Using DPNs, slide the 5 sts of I-cord strap back to LH needle, *k4, k2tog through back loop, slide sts to the right; rep from * as necessary for patt.

I-cord Grafting

Step 1: Insert needle purlwise through first st of last row on front needle, take it off.

Step 2: Insert needle purlwise under the two legs of first st of beginning row of I-cord CO edge, it’s slightly on the back.

Step 3: Insert needle knitwise through first st of last row on front needle (it’s no longer on needle).

Step 4: Insert needle purlwise through next live st of last row on front needle, take it off.

Step 5: Insert needle purlwise under the two legs of next live st of beginning row of I-cord CO edge.

Rep Steps 3, 4, 5 as necessary.

Step 6: Insert needle knitwise through first st of last row, secure it and weave in the end.

1×1 Bind-Off

K1, *k1, pass the first st over the second st, p1, pass the first st over the second st; rep from * as necessary for the patt.

Pattern Notes

The pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up to armholes, then front and back are worked flat. The seamless construction incorporates a 1×1 rib stitch and stockinette stitch with color stripes of different widths at the bottom.

Techniques required are: Long Tail cast-on, I-cord bind off and grafting, decreasing, jogless join, carrying yarn in the back, and raglan shaping.

Neck I-cord Strap and BO

With larger DPNs, CO 5 sts. Slide sts to the right.

Row 1: K5, slide sts to the right.

Rep Row 1 twice more.

Remove stitch holder or waste yarn from Back sts and place sts on large needles, BO 31 (33, 35, 37, 39) sts of Back Yoke using I-cord BO method.

Continue with I-cord strap as follows:

Rep Row 1, 16 more times for all sizes.

Remove stitch holder or waste yarn from Front sts and place sts on large needles. BO 33 (35, 37, 39, 41) sts of Front Yoke using I-cord BO method.

Weave in all ends.
