Position Pockets so they are 2” above the top of the ribbing and 2” in from the edge of the button band (shown in the diagram below). Sew in place.

Sew seams of sleeves.

Beg at the underarm, sew the sleeve in place until you are 1” from the centre of Sleeve Cap.  Leave the yarn tail and sew the other side of the sleeve, also stopping 1” from the top of the centre of the Sleeve Cap (the seam location is indicated in red on the diagram below). The remaining space to be sewn should be slightly longer on the Sleeve Cap than in the armhole, this is what creates the sleeve gathers.

Sew the remaining distance, easing the pieces together.

Repeat on other side.Weave in ends and sew button opposite buttonhole.
