A Note from the Editor

I can still remember it: my tiny heart beating fast as I ran to the end of the driveway, lining up with the other neighborhood kids and waiting for the ice cream truck to come to a stop. I’d hold out my loose change to the driver – a collection I found from underneath the sofa cushions – and ordered my favorite: the strawberry shortcake bar. I loved those things. Each one completely covered in pink and red crumbs like someone had dipped it into a bag of fruity cereal. While ice cream trucks certainly aren’t the only sign that a new season is on the horizon, but it’s certainly a delicious one to look out for!

That’s why I couldn’t be more excited to introduce the playful Ice Cream Social section in our latest summer issue of I Like Knitting. Inspired by this cool treat, we’ve included six adorable designs all inspired by sprinkles and ice cream. My personal favorite is the Pick Your Flavor Sweater. Adorned with mini, colorful ice cream cones, this precious design is perfect for little ones to keep warm on a cool summer night.

Have a few weddings coming up, but don’t know what to wear? Consider pairing your favorite black dress with a gorgeous new wrap or cardi. The Butterfly Wing Stole features petal-like curves and eyelet motifs perfect for even the most glamorous occasion while the Forever & Always Cardi provides the additional warmth of sleeves without losing its lightweight charm.

Gearing up for the beach but in need of some fresh designs? Our Mer-Mazing patterns section wasn’t just fun to photograph, we love wearing these pieces, too. From the Beach Sunset Tee (on the cover), to the Head Over Fins Blanket, you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing day by the water.

From Father’s Day patterns to lightweight tops, tees and shawls, we hope you enjoy this latest issue. Bring on the warmer weather!

Happy knitting,
