This pillow cover features a lacy stitch that looks ready to bloom right out of the pattern. Your home will have a summery garden vibe thanks to the color block design that captures the feeling of freshly cut pink tulips against a background of greenery.

Gauge: 5 pattern repeats and 3 rows = 4” [10 cm]



Super fine weight yarn Scheepjes Catona (100% Cotton; 137 yards [125 meters]/50 grams): 412 Forest Green (Color A), 2 balls; 222 Tulip (Color B), 1 ball

Needles: US size 3 (3.0 mm): straight or circular

Notions: Removable markers; tapestry needle; fabric for back side of pillow (about 1 fat quarter); 16” / [40 cm] square pillow form


With A, CO 81 sts – see below notes for revised pattern

Row 1 (RS): *K5, yf, k2tog, k1; rep from * to last st, k1.

Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl.

Row 3: *K3, k2tog tbl, yf, k1, yf, k2tog; rep from * to last st, k1.

Row 5: K1, *k1, k2tog tbl, yf, k3, yf, k2tog; rep from * to end.

Row 7: K1, k2tog tbl, *yf, k5, yf, k2tog tbl, return st to LH needle, pass next st over it, put st back on RH needle; rep from * to last 6 sts, yf, k6.

Row 9 (Inc): *K1, kfb, k6; rep from * to last st, k1 – 10 sts inc’d; 91 sts.

Row 11 (Dec): *K2tog, k4, yf, k2tog, k1; rep from * to last st, k1 – 10 sts dec’d; 81 sts.

Row 12: Purl

Rep Rows 1-12 until piece meas 5½” / [14 cm].

Change to B, work in est patt until piece meas 10½” / [27 cm] from CO edge.

Change to A, work in est patt until piece meas 16½” / [41 cm] from CO edge.

BO all sts.


Weave in all ends.

Fabric Back


Cut fabric to pillow measurements and using sewing machine.

Sew Pillow Front to Fabric, making a pillow case and insert Pillow Form. yarn ball
