Stripe Tank Top

This Top is constructed seamlessly from the bottom up, combining comfort and elegance throughout. The lower body features engaging mosaic colorwork, allowing to play with color while enjoying the simplicity of using just one strand of yarn at a time. As the knitting progresses upward, the pattern incorporates thoughtful shaping techniques to ensure a perfect fit, with short rows that contour the back and neckline for improved comfort and silhouette. The garment is finished with a mini I-cord edging in a contrasting color, adding a polished end. This pattern is enjoyable to knit and wear, offering both a creative journey and the opportunity to expand your knitting skills.

German short rows (DS-st):

After the turn, slip the first stitch with yarn in front. Then take yarn to the back of work. This makes two loops (Double Stitch) from the pulled, slipped stitch.

If the next stitch is a knit stitch, knit the stitch as you normally would.

If the next stitch is a purl stitch, bring the yarn back (the yarn will have gone around the needle from behind and back in front) and purl the next stitch.

When you find this DS-st in a subsequent row, knit as if it was one (like a k2tog/p2tog).

mini I-cord bind-off:

CO 2 sts, *K1, k2tog tbl, sl2 sts onto LHN; Rep from * until 2 sts remain. BO with Kitchener st to the first 2 sts of the I-cord.

Pattern Notes

This sweater is constructed seamlessly from the bottom up, beginning in the round and continuing to the underarms. The lower body features mosaic colorwork, utilizing only one strand of yarn at a time for ease of knitting. Once the body reaches the underarms, the piece is divided to work separately on the front and back sections.

The back and neckline are shaped using short rows to ensure a comfortable and contoured fit. After shaping, the back and front are joined together at the collar to complete the upper structure of the garment.

Both the neckline and hem are finished with a mini I-cord in a contrasting color, providing a polished and decorative edge.

Unless otherwise specified in the pattern instructions, all markers should be slipped.
