Diamond Trim Cardigan

The Diamond Trim Cardigan is an open and seamless piece worked mostly flat from the top down with short raglan sleeves. The design features an easy reversible lace pattern for the collar that, combined with the light mint yarn, makes this an essential summer cardigan.

Skill Level: Intermediate 

Size: Finished bust size = 36 (40, 44, 48, 52)” to fit bust 32-34 (36-38, 40-42, 44-46, 48-50)”; 2-4” positive ease recommended; Measurements based on back measurement doubled at underarm. Shown in size 36”

Gauge: 19 sts and 24 rows = 4” [10 cm] in reverse St st on larger needle after wet blocking

Materials

Yarn: Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash (100% wool; 220 yards [201 meters]/100 grams): Mint (4 (4, 5, 6, 7) balls)
Hook/Needles: US size G/6 (4.0 mm) crochet hook for provisional cast on, US size 6 (4.0 mm) straight or 12” circular needles, US size 7 (4.5 mm) 24” circular needles, US size 8 (5.0 mm) 24” circular needles or different size to obtain gauge
Notions: Markers (2 in color A, 4 in color B), stitch holders, waste yarn for provisional cast on, tapestry needle

Abbreviations

M/sm/rm: Marker, slip marker, remove marker
M1L/m1PL: Make one left: pick up the bar between the sts from front to back with the left needle, and knit/purl this bar through the back loop

With crochet hook and waste yarn, provisionally CO 32 sts on smaller needle.
Next Row (RS): P4, *p4, k7, p3 rep from * once more.

Row 2 (RS): P4, work Right Collar Chart twice.
Work these last 2 rows for approx. 4.25 (5, 5.5, 6, 6.25)” from provisional CO edge, ending with Row 9 (13, 15, 17, 21) of Right Collar Chart.
Break yarn and put all right collar sts onto waste yarn or holders.

Left Collar

Carefully remove provisional CO and place all sts on smaller needle.
Row 1 (WS): K4, work Left Collar Chart twice.

Sleeves (Make Two)

With larger needle and right side facing, begin in the middle of underarm CO, puk 4 (4, 5,6, 6) sts, p all sleeve sts from holder, puk 4 (4, 5, 5, 5) sts. Pm and join to work in the round, being careful not to twist sts. (56 (62, 68, 75, 85) total sts)
Next rnd: P3 (3, 4, 5, 5) sts, p2tog, p to 5 (5, 6, 6, 6) sts before m, ssp, p to end. (2 sts decreased)
P 10 rnds.
Next rnd: P1, p2tog, p to 3 sts before m, ssp, p1. (52 (58, 64, 71, 81) total sts)
P 6 rnds or to desired length.
K 4 rnds.
Bind off loosely.

Finishing

Close any underarm holes if necessary and weave in ends. Soak and block to measurements.
