Afternoon Coffee Cardigan

Get ready to snuggle up with a good book and relax in this cozy, easy-to-wear cardigan. Though there are a lot of cables in this cardigan, it goes quicker than you’d think in a bulky yarn. Pockets and a fold-over collar lends a casual feel to a staple sweater.

This A line cardigan is worked from the bottom up in pieces. When decreasing, maintain stitches in patt as much as possible.

Finishing

Block pieces to finished measurements. Sew Pocket Linings to inside of fronts. Sew Sleeve caps into armholes. Sew Sleeve and side seams. Pin BO edge of Front Band to front opening of assembled cardigan. Straight edges of Front Band will fall along straight sides of fronts, while shaped portion of Front Band will align with front neck shaping and back neck. Sew Front Band to cardigan using mattress stitch. Steam seams.

Pocket Edging

Place 22 held Front sts onto smaller needle.

With MC and smaller needle, work in Twisted Ribbing for 4 rows.

BO all sts.

Button Loops

Insert crochet hook into knit st at the right-hand side of front band, even with the beginning of neck shaping and pull up a loop. Ch 5, insert hook back into same st from front band, fasten off. Weave in ends on WS of work. Make 9 more Button Loops evenly spaced along right side of Front band, approximately every 10 sts. Sew buttons to Left Front opposite Button Loops. Weave in ends. yarn ball
