Berroco Remix Chunky (30% Nylon, 27% Cotton, 24% Acrylic; 10% Silk, 9% Linen, 139 yards [127 meters]/100 grams), MC 9901 Birch (5 balls), CC1 9998 Cherry (2 balls), CC2 9949 Nightfall (2 balls), CC3 9927 Old Jeans (1 ball), CC4 9919 Mist (1 ball),

Needles:

US size 13 (9 mm) 47” (120-cm) circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions:

Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors

Pattern Notes:

This rug is knit back and forth lengthwise on a long circular needle to accommodate stitches.

Stitches are then picked up and knit along the side edges to create a border.

Yarn is held triple. MC is carried up while contrast colors are cut when directed.

Pattern:

With 3 strands of MC held together and Size 13 circular needles, CO 58 sts.

Border 1

Row 1: Knit.

Rows 2-5: Repeat row 1.

Row 6: Purl. Do not cut MC

Rug:

Red Stripes #1

Row 7: With CC1 held triple K6, Sl2pwyib, [K15, Sl2pwyib] two times, K6.

Rows 8: Do not turn. Slide stitches to opposite side of needle. With MC K.

Row 9: Turn work. With CC1, P6, Sl2pwyif, [P15, Sl2pwyif] two times, P6.

Rows 10: Do not turn. Slide stitches to opposite side of needle. With MC P.

Rows 11 – 12: Repeat rows 7 – 8 one more time. Cut CC1 leaving an 8” tail.

Rows 13: With MC P.

Navy Stripes #1

Rows 14: With CC2 held triple K6, Sl2pwyib, [K15, Sl2pwyib] two times, K6.

Rows 15: K6, Sl2pwyif, [K15, Sl2pwyif] two times, K6

Row 16: P6, Sl2pwyib, [P15, Sl2pwyif] two times, P6.

Rows 17: Do not turn. Slide stitches to opposite side of needle. With MC K.

Rows 18: With MC P.

Rows 19 – 29: Repeat rows 14 – 18 two more times. Cut CC2 leaving an 8” tail.

Red Stripes #2

Rows 30 – 37: Repeat rows 7 – 10 two times.

Rows 38 – 39: Repeat rows 7 – 8 one more time. Cut CC1 leaving an 8” tail.

Rows 40: With MC P.

Medium Blue Stripes #1

Rows 41 – 56: With CC3 and MC held triple, repeat rows 14 – 29.

Red Stripes #3

Rows 57 – 67: With CC1 and MC held triple, repeat rows 30 – 40.

Light Blue Stripes #1

Rows 68 – 83: With CC4 and MC held triple, repeat rows 14 – 29.

Red Stripes #4

Rows 84 – 94: With CC1 and MC held triple, repeat rows 30 – 40.

Navy Stripes #2

Rows 95 – 110: With CC1 and MC held triple, repeat rows 14 – 29.

Red Stripes #5

Rows 111 – 121: With CC1 and MC held triple, repeat rows 7 – 13.

Border 2

Row 122: Purl.

Rows 123-125: Repeat row 1.

Row 126: BO purlwise. Weave in ends. I recommend weaving in the ends individually by strand rather than as a group of three to reduce bulk.

Block rug to 25” x 33”. I ran it through the rinse & spin cycle of my washer on cold water and low speed settings and then pinned it out to dry.

Side Borders

Row 1: With MC held triple, pick up and knit 66 sts along a side edge.

Rows 2-3: Knit.

Row 4: BO knitwise.

Repeat on the other side edge of rug.
