Audrey is a classic yet trendy cable and lace hat works up quickly to make a quick last-minute gift for the girl who is always on trend. Add a colorful pom pom and you’ll be wanting to make one for every girl on your list.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 18” circumference, 9” height

Gauge: 20 sts and 24 rows = 4” [10 cm] in pattern after wet blocking

Yarn: Nako Sport Wool (25% Wool, 75% Acrylic; 131 yards [119 meters]/100 grams): #2167 (1 ball)

Needles: US size 7 (4.5 mm) 16” circular, US size 8 (5.0 mm) 16” circular, US size 8 (5.0 mm) 1 set of DPNs

Notions: Cable needle, tapestry needle, scrap yarn to make pompom

2/2 RC – Slip 2 sts to cable needle, hold in back, k2, k2 from cable needle.

Pattern

Body

With smaller needles, CO 88 sts. Pm and join to work in the round.

Work in 1×1 Rib until piece meas 1.75”.

Change to larger needles.

Work Rows 1-16 of Cable and Lace Pattern.

Rep Rows 1-8 once more.

Crown shaping

Work Rows 1-14 of Crown Shaping, changing to DPNs as necessary. (24 sts remain)

Break yarn, draw through all remaining sts, pull tightly and fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in ends.

Block to finished measurements.

Decorate with a pompom.
