Cable Cast-On: *Insert the right-hand needle between the next two stitches on the left-hand needle. Wrap the yarn around, pull the loop back through to the front, and place that new stitch onto the left-hand needle in front of the stitches.* Rep from * to * until you have cast-on the desired number of stitches.

4-st 1-row Buttonhole
Work to where your buttonhole will begin. Bring your yarn to the front, slip the next st purlwise, then bring your yarn to the back.
Slip the next st purlwise and then pass the first slipped st over the second – one stitch bound off. Repeat this step 3 more times – 4 sts bound off.
Move the last st on the right needle back over to the left needle.
Turn so the WS is facing you. Pull the yarn to the back and using the cable method, cast on 5 sts. Bring the yarn back to the front. Turn, so the RS is facing you (working yarn is now in the back).
Slip the first left needle stitch knitwise to the right needle. Pass the last cast-on stitch over the slipped stitch and off the needle, binding it off.
Move the last stitch on the right needle back to the left needle. Buttonhole is completed and you may continue working in the established pattern.

Pattern Notes

This pullover is worked in two pieces and seamed. Each piece is worked sideways from cuff-to-cuff. The buttonholes for the front are repeated while other shaping is worked, so read the front section carefully.
