Sunshine and Honey Cowl

Bright colors and geometric designs are the lovely inspirations for this springtime cowl. The folded fabric provides extra warmth and structure to an otherwise simple design without adding too much bulk.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Size: 8” [20.5 cm] wide and 28 [71 cm]” in circumference

Gauge: 24 sts x 32 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after wet blocking

Materials

Yarn: Sunshine Yarns Merino Sport (100% superwash merino; 225 yards [205 meters]/100 grams): Parchment (C1, 2 skeins), Hive (C2, 1 skein)
Needles: US size 4 (3.5 mm) circular (16”) needles
Notions: Stitch marker, tapestry needle 

Pattern Notes

This piece is worked in the round as a tube. Live stitches are grafted to the cast-on edge during finishing to create the cowl.
After beginning the first few rounds, use a locking stitch marker to mark the first stitch in the round. This will aid in orienting the beginning of the round when beginning the grafting during finishing. 

Pattern

With C2, CO 96 sts, pm, join to knit in the round being careful not to twist sts.
*Knit 1 round.
Next Rnd: Pick up C1 and begin working from colorwork chart. Chart will be repeated 12 times each round.
Repeat rounds 1-8 three times.
Next Rnd: Work rnd 9.
With C2 knit 1 rnd.
Break C2 yarn.
With C1 knit 24 rounds.*
Pick up C2 and repeat from * to * 3 times more.
Break C1 leaving a tail measuring approx. 36” long.

Finishing

Turn work to WS and weave in ends.
Return to RS.
Use a darning needle to graft live sts to CO edge.
Weave in end.
Block to measurements. yarn ball
