Pattern Notes

The Blanket is knit from the center out. When there are too many stitches to comfortably fit on dpns, switch to circular needles. You may prefer to use the 2 circular needle method for the outer several inches of the blanket.
The Blanket Edging, Cardigan Hem, and Hat Brim all incorporate the Reversible Cable. These edgings are worked as knit-on edgings. Stitches will be cast on for the edging, and then at the end of every right side edging row, either a k2tog or k3tog will be worked with stitches from the main piece, thereby binding off stitches as you go.
As written, the buttonholes are on the right side or “girl” side of the cardigan. For boys, place buttonholes on the left side instead.

Provisional Crochet Cast-on: With crochet hook and waste yarn, chain on 5-10 more stitches than the specified cast-on number in the pattern. Beginning a few chains from one end, using working yarn and needle, pick up and knit 1 stitch in the bottom bump of each crochet chain. When it is time to unravel the cast-on, carefully unzip the chain 1 stitch at time, placing resulting live stitches on to knitting needle.
